I haven’t flown into or out of San José since we got Chloe (which is a terrible shame, because, like Oakland’s airport, it’s a huggable alternative to the beast that is SFO), so I was happy to get an e-mail from an SJC marketing rep telling me about the airport’s pet relief areas.… Read the rest

This week on Dog Jaunt is, clearly, brought to you by Jen and Troy, who also sent a couple of paragraphs about the pet relief areas they found on their trip to California’s Shenandoah Valley wine country last summer.

There’s nothing on the airport’s web site about a pet relief area, and the person staffing the information desk told me that there isn’t an official pet relief area at ALB. There are small lawns just outside the terminal building, however, and she told me how to find them.… Read the rest
According to the airport’s website, BWI’s pet relief area “can be found at the end of Concourse E near the International Terminal, adjacent to the light rail station.” Happily, the light rail station is easy to find, because there is literally no signage for the pet relief area until you reach the exit door.… Read the rest
Last week I posted half of reader Mia’s report from a recent trip (“Flying with an in-cabin dog on a Delta CRJ-200“). Here’s the other half, describing the results of her searches for pet relief areas at the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) and the Charleston International Airport (CHS).… Read the rest
My friend Jenny, whenever she sets off on a trip, kindly asks whether I have the info I need about the pet relief area for the airport she’ll be visiting — and this time, she was visiting Austin, TX. Let’s be honest. I started collecting these links on September 2, so this is really an entire month’s collection. By now it’s old news that TripAdvisor posted a list of its ten most pet-friendly hotels in the U.S. — the algorithm is a little sketchy (“accommodations which have four or more circles out of five on TripAdvisor, and feature the greatest number of TripAdvisor traveler comments describing them as pet- or dog-friendly”), but I loved learning about The Paw House Inn, a Vermont hotel that charges extra for visitors without a dog.… Read the rest
Not many airport pet relief areas are so silly that they make me laugh out loud when I find them — the pet relief area at Dallas (Terminal D) was one, and now Nashville is on the list.
On the bright side, the airport’s web site provides detailed instructions to find the pet relief area, and it’s marked on the numerous maps posted in the terminal (though not on the on-line interactive airport map).… Read the rest
Deb, my beloved college roommate and a loyal Dog Jaunt reader, arrived at the Richmond International Airport recently and sent the following information about the pet relief area there: “It’s located right outside the terminal, in front of the parking garage.… Read the rest
