Taking a small dog on a plane isn’t the only thing I write about, but it’s the topic that got me started as a blogger. It’s also the topic you have the most questions about.
When Chloe came into our lives, I had all the same questions you have, but I couldn’t find any good, detailed answers on the Internet. The first thing I had to do as a dog owner was fly with our puppy from San Diego to Seattle. Over the next month, we took her on two more plane trips. Through trial and error (not a huge amount of error, thank goodness), I figured out how to make flying with an in-cabin dog work for us and for Chloe. Why not share what I’d learned, I asked myself, and Dog Jaunt was born.
Here is all the information I’ve collected about traveling by plane with a small dog, grouped into categories I hope you’ll find useful. I suggest starting with one of my earliest posts — it steps you through the process of getting ready to fly with your dog, and describes how your travel day will go — and then browsing for more details and alternatives. Look in the sidebar for the kinds of posts that interest you, and don’t miss the useful charts and lists under the “Guides” tab!
