When you learn that Ink48 is a Kimpton hotel, you know that of course it’s pet-friendly, and that means, among many other things, that there’s no pet fee — an important point in a spendy town like New York. This particular Kimpton may also be a hair less expensive than the other NYC Kimptons, and if I’m right about that, I’ll make another guess that it’s because it’s in a neighborhood that’s a hair farther away from the bright lights … Read more

Holy cats, this Chloe’s Clicks is way overdue! I’ll just plunge in with the oldest link in the collection, a post about a private jet company in the U.K. that invites your pet to join you in the main cabin. On the plus side: Your pet’s with you in the main cabin, and she has her “very own leather-upholstered seat, strapped in for safety, all while enjoying a window view.” On the minus side: If you have to ask, you … Read more
You know from previous posts how much I adore Kimpton hotels — they welcome dogs with open arms, they have an irresistible, quirky decor, they ply guests with refreshing/cooling/restorative beverages and nibblies at all hours, and the company nobly supported the most recent travel bloggers’ fundraiser (Passports with Purpose), contributing in no small way to the building of a village in India. The weekend I just spent at the Kimpton’s Harbor Court Hotel in San Francisco, however, was not blissful, … Read more
I’ve threatened to write a “Snapshot Saturday” post before, but this is the first time I’ve ever done it. Yep, I missed Photo Friday, and since it’s been a slim week for posts, I figure I’ll slip this one in today. Besides, you really need to see this picture:
Reader Brian and his family brought their dog Tipper with them to Seattle on their recent visit. I was particularly interested to hear how it went because I’d learned from an early … Read more
Chloe and I stayed this past weekend at a new Kimpton hotel, the Grand Hotel in Minneapolis. I should mention that I paid my own way at the Grand Hotel — I’ll always let you know when something I’m reviewing has been paid for by someone else. I didn’t know quite how new it was until I inquired, on check-out, but I’d had my suspicions from the beginning. It has the Kimpton quirky chic in only a few places … Read more
This week we start with a new (to me) blog called DiningWithDogs.com, which posted a short review of the Ice Box Café in Miami Beach. Also in Florida? The Take Paws team — now, in fact, in Key West, but earlier this week they wrote a great post about their visit to St. Augustine, with lots of good suggestions and pictures. I simply cannot see enough pictures of Ty the Shar-Pei, who always looks concerned, but Buster the German Shepherd … Read more
Back on November 15 (and many times since then!), I told you about this year’s Passports with Purpose fundraiser, and encouraged you to bid on Dog Jaunt’s prize: A two-night stay and dinner at any Kimpton hotel. The fundraiser ended on December 13, and the winners of all the prizes were announced this past Friday. That means that if you, like me, did not get a congratulatory e-mail message, you did not, in fact, win the prize or prizes you … Read more
The short version? The travel bloggers’ fundraiser that, last year, built a school in Cambodia with your donations plans, this year, to build a village in India for Dalit (untouchable) people. I contacted the Kimpton Hotel group, and they’re offering a prize you’ll love: Two nights, plus a $125 voucher for a meal, at any of their amazing dog-friendly hotels. For each $10 you donate, you get a chance to win the Kimpton prize (check out the other prizes too … Read more
The Kimpton Hotel Group just gets it. Every Kimpton hotel I’ve stayed in has been centrally-located, quirkily attractive, friendly, clean and packed with thoughtful details — and Portland’s Hotel Monaco is no exception. We spent this past weekend there, and I can’t think of a single negative comment. I should mention that we paid our own way at the Hotel Monaco — I’ll always let you know when something I’m reviewing has been paid for by someone else.
This week’s first link makes me happy — it’s a standing ovation from Small and Chic in Cville for the very dog-friendly Hotel Palomar (a Kimpton hotel) in Atlanta, GA. Author Jeannine reveled in the doggie swag and pampering (as did Baxter the dog) and her pictures are fun.
Across the country, a Chandler, AZ restaurant is fighting to stay dog-friendly. Iguana Mack’s has allowed leashed dogs to keep their owners company on its patio for the past eight years — … Read more
