No dogs allowed

I was shocked — shocked, I tell you! — to learn that dogs are not allowed on Angel Island, a lovely and historic little island in San Francisco Bay. It reminded me of some other disappointments I’ve encountered recently in making dog travel plans, and I decided to start a list of places that currently don’t welcome (or even tolerate) dogs. Let me know of others you encounter, and I’ll add them to the list.

I’ve provided a link, where there is one, to the no-dog policy for each listing; where there isn’t a link, I learned about the policy in a phone conversation.

(The list won’t include places like hospitals, because those kinds of bans make sense, or restaurants, because I’ve already discussed those elsewhere. But does it actually make sense to ban dogs from Angel Island? Wouldn’t a leash law be more appropriate?)
