Chloe’s Clicks: This week’s best dog travel links

Time for another mighty Chloe’s Clicks — mighty overdue, in fact, which wouldn’t normally be a big problem except that the first link is a lovely collection of suggestions from Have Dog Blog Will Travel for…dog-friendly spring breaks. However, there is absolutely nothing stopping you and your dog from taking another vacation in the San Francisco Bay area, Southern California, Colorado, Utah, or Wisconsin.… Read the rest

There is Nothing Like a Dame: America’s grandest hotels, and their pet policies

This post was inspired by an article in the November 2011 issue of Vanity Fair, entitled “Americana Resorts: Revisiting America’s historic grand hotels.” They’re pricey — oh, heavens, yes — but they’re fabulous, and many of them open their doors to pets (generally small ones, but The Point, The Broadmoor and the 1886 Crescent Hotel & Spa have no weight maximums, and The Grove Park Inn and The Stanley Hotel welcome fairly big dogs).… Read the rest

Chloe’s Clicks: Dog travel links we liked this week

My recent posts about our trip last week to Boulder and Denver prompted a blogging friend who lives outside Boulder, CO to add a couple of comments revealing how un-friendly to dogs Boulder really is. The conference was held at the Grand Hyatt, a hotel that normally does not welcome pets, but did for the conference attendees. While the Grand Hyatt was a pleasant venue (and a rumor circulated that it might become pet-friendly in the near future), I decided to stay instead at a hotel that welcomes dogs with open arms — and thanks to a deal from Jetsetter, which I urge you to join, we ended up at the Hotel Teatro.… Read the rest

Photo Friday (and a dog jaunt): Boulder’s Chautauqua Park

This week’s picture was taken in the Centennial Garden behind the Dining Hall at Boulder’s Chautauqua. The Colorado Chautauqua opened on July 4, 1898 as part of the national Chautauqua Movement (a “chautauqua” being a place where people gathered to be entertained and educated — at the height of the movement, in the first decade of the 20th century, thousands of communities across the country hosted chautauquas).… Read the rest

Traveling by Denver public transit with a small dog

Denver’s Regional Transportation District (“RTD”) offers bus and light-rail service in and around Colorado’s capital city. The system covers eight counties, and stretches between Boulder and Nederland in the west, Longmont in the north, Highlands Ranch in the south, and Aurora in the east.… Read the rest
