Chloe’s Clicks: This week’s best dog travel links

Just a few links to share with you this week, which is a good thing, because there’s hardly any week left! Slipping in under the wire are a couple of dog-friendly beaches: Gracie’s Bark posted some wonderful pictures of Gracie and her Golden Retriever friend Cali playing at Crane Beach, near Ipswich, MA on the South Coast; and Dugs ‘n’ Pubs highlighted a dog-friendly beach (and a nearby dog-friendly pub) in Gullane, Scotland (about a half hour east of Edinburgh, on the south coast of the Firth of Forth).… Read the rest

Matching my cheerful mood here on a beautiful, perfect fall day in Paris, all of the dog travel links I have for you this week are fun and inspiring. Consider the following fall getaways for you and your pup:

  • A stroll through Atlanta’s Winn Park, brought to you by Diane and Cosmo of To Dog with Love;
  • A dog-friendly hike in Oregon’s McKenzie River Valley (trail blazed by Pippin the Golden Retriever, and his human Kyla Merwin Cheney, posting on Travel Oregon Blog);
  • Apple-picking (Miss Muddy Paws of The Wet Nose has found that most orchards are dog-friendly, and had fun last year taking her companion Milly apple picking in Northern Virginia);
  • A visit to an outstandingly dog-friendly city — Park City, Utah (report filed by our Take Paws friends, Rod & Amy & Ty & Buster Burkert); and
  • A romp on the beach — check out petswelome.com

The first link I gathered this past week, courtesy of @pettravelcom, was an article from The Philadelphia Inquirer about how the author connected with Italians on a recent visit by photographing their dogs. It really speaks to me — we added Chloe to our lives because we wanted pet company on our travels, but I’ve since learned that traveling with her is a wonderful way to meet people, and to meet them at their unguarded best.… Read the rest

This week led off with a bunch of lists. Huffington Post published a list of dog-friendly restaurants and hotels in Los Angeles; Sunset Magazine published a list of ten dog-friendly vacation ideas in the western United States (including Tucson, the San Juan Islands, Coronado Island, the Oregon coast, Carmel-by-the-Sea, Los Angeles, and a Walla Walla winery); and Yak & Natter reported on their visit to four of Britain’s ten best dog-friendly beaches.… Read the rest
