Results from the 2012 Passports with Purpose fundraiser

This should have been posted on December 19th, or sometime really very shortly thereafter, and yet here it is, appearing on December 26th (I blame Colonial Williamsburg, but I’ll save that for another post). That’s the bad news. The good news is that when the Passports with Purpose travel bloggers fundraiser ended, you wonderful people had donated not just the $100,000 the organizers had been shooting for, but an astonishing $110,000. That means that there will soon be five communities  … Read more

My picks: The 6 best Passports with Purpose prizes for travelers with dogs

Dog Jaunt is the proud sponsor of a prize in this year’s Passports with Purpose travel bloggers fundraiser — a really wonderful pet carrier donated by Tumi to help dig two water wells in rural Haiti. It’s a well-designed and beautifully-constructed carrier (retail price $495) that will make the owner of any pet 12 lbs. or under very happy indeed, and if that’s you, you should give serious consideration to plunking down $10 for a chance to win it (or  … Read more

Win a gorgeous TUMI pet carrier — and dig two water wells in Haiti

About a week ago, I posted a rapturous review of the new pet carrier from TUMI, and then left you with a mystery. Under my rules, I cannot keep products worth more than $50, and the TUMI pet carrier, at $495, is well over that limit. I either have to return the carrier to TUMI, or give it away — but I told you that I was doing neither of those things, and that you would be excited by the  … Read more

Results from the Passports with Purpose fundraiser

Back on November 15 (and many times since then!), I told you about this year’s Passports with Purpose fundraiser, and encouraged you to bid on Dog Jaunt’s prize: A two-night stay and dinner at any Kimpton hotel. The fundraiser ended on December 13, and the winners of all the prizes were announced this past Friday. That means that if you, like me, did not get a congratulatory e-mail message, you did not, in fact, win the prize or prizes you  … Read more

Win two nights plus dinner at any Kimpton hotel–and build a village in India!

The short version? The travel bloggers’ fundraiser that, last year, built a school in Cambodia with your donations plans, this year, to build a village in India for Dalit (untouchable) people. I contacted the Kimpton Hotel group, and they’re offering a prize you’ll love: Two nights, plus a $125 voucher for a meal, at any of their amazing dog-friendly hotels. For each $10 you donate, you get a chance to win the Kimpton prize (check out the other prizes too  … Read more

Contribute towards building a school in Cambodia, win valuable prizes!

From the beginning, I have thought of Dog Jaunt as a blog for people who love to travel — and who happen to have a small dog. So when I learned that a group of beloved travel bloggers was organizing a fundraiser, called Passports with Purpose, to raise money to build a school in Cambodia, Dog Jaunt jumped on board. Here’s the plan.

Marc Jacobs-designed Louis Vuitton travel kennel sold at Sotheby’s auction

Marc Jacobs reportedly designed this travel kennel with tongue in cheek — it was one of seven custom Louis Vuitton-branded items sold recently by Sotheby’s in a fundraiser for the Red Cross, and it’s clearly over the top. The exterior is monogram canvas “with hand painted personalisation,” leather, and lots of brass; the interior is “Vuittonite leather,” brass, zinc, and leather. At 39Lx27.5Wx30H, it’s certainly not tucking under the seat in front of you — but given that it was  … Read more
