Small but well-stocked: I Love My Cleps pet store in Paris’s 9th arrondissement

My thanks to reader Joan for this recommendation — she saw my recent post about Moustaches and BHV La Niche, two major pet stores in Paris’s Marais neighborhood, and mentioned that she’d found a good pet store near her Montmartre apartment last year. Off we went to check it out, and I was delighted with what we found.

The shop is at the corner of the rue Rodier and the rue Condorcet

In its compact space, I Love My Cleps contains  … Read more

Another good pet store in central Paris: Moustaches

What else would a dog travel blogger do on her first full day in Paris but drag her husband (and her dog, but Chloe hardly needed dragging) to pet stores? Both are in the Marais neighborhood, and one (BHV La Niche) I’ve written about before. It’s still going strong in its location behind the main BHV store, at 42 rue de la Verrerie:

The big orange statues are outside BHV LA Niche now, perhaps to free up more space inside  … Read more

Photo Friday: Tampa airport’s pet store

Now here’s something I’ve never seen before — a pet store in an airport. It’s called Dog-E-works and it’s in Tampa’s airport, among that cluster of shops on the second floor that you see when you go up the escalators from ticketing, or come in on the airport trains from the concourses (there’s apparently another one in Orlando’s airport). And it’s a pretty good store, too — there are lots of tchotchkes and tee-shirts, but there are also good-quality treats,  … Read more

Photo Friday: Chloe at Lowe’s

I’d forgotten that we took this photo! We were visiting Florida back in December, and took Chloe with us on a trip to the local Lowe’s store. It was her first time in a shopping cart, but she settled down once I spread a store flyer out under her (she doesn’t like open metal mesh under her paws).

When Chloe looks mournful like this, my husband is putty in her paws.

The Lowe’s staff couldn’t have been nicer to  … Read more

Product review: Chloe’s “Elite Kaba” Milk & Pepper carrier

I’ve posted a bunch of pictures of Chloe in this carrier (snoozing on a Batobus, on a train to Chartres), and here are the details I’ve been promising. Milk & Pepper is a French company that makes dog clothing and accessories. I’ve never seen their products in the U.S., but according to the M&P website (click on “Stores”), they’re available in Northern California and New York. We found Chloe’s carrier in Paris at the BHV La Niche, among a line-up  … Read more

BHV La Niche: Good pet store in central Paris

BHV (short for “Bazaar Hôtel de Ville”) is a great department store in central Paris. I love it because it has a little bit of everything, which is old-fashioned and charming and useful. My favorite sight? DIY folks emerging from the basement home reno section clutching lengths of lumber and PVC pipe, negotiating their way around the fashionistas on the ground floor. It has spun out some of its departments into nearby stores of their own, including the men’s store,  … Read more
