“This week” is a bit of a fiction, I know, given that the oldest link in here is dated January 25, but a more accurate headline wouldn’t be nearly so catchy. The link is certainly attention-grabbing: Australia turns out to be darned pet-unfriendly in many ways, but the Sunshine Coast Daily reports that the Sunshine Coast Council (representing a large urban area north of Brisbane) recently decided to let local café owners choose whether to allow dogs to join diners in … Read more

I relaxed a little too much this weekend, and failed to write my Chloe’s Clicks post yesterday. Never mind — here it is, and it’s a good one.
We begin with a terrific series of posts that Edie Jarolim, blogging at Will My Dog Hate Me?, wrote about her recent flight from Tucson to San Diego (and back, of course) with her dog Frankie. Edie is a wonderful writer, and she handles her issues (anxiety over Frankie) and Frankie’s issues (diabetes, … Read more
Two weeks ago, the news was about Maryland’s Dining Out Growth Act of 2011, which would let Maryland restaurants welcome patrons accompanied by dogs to outdoor dining areas. It looks very much as though the Maryland General Assembly has approved the measure, clearing the way for Maryland restaurant owners to join their Florida, California and Minnesota colleagues. This week’s news, per krqe.com, is that New Mexico may add itself to the list. Which state will be next?

Click on the state you’re interested in for details — and notice that when you do, the left-hand column changes to include links to some useful information, collected under … Read more
This week’s links are a real grab-bag — all over the map, and lots of different topics, but all fun. Here we go:
Pet Airways brings us not only pet-only flights (now also to Omaha, Atlanta and Phoenix) but also write-ups of pet-friendly activities in areas served by the airline. This one, by guest author Arden Moore, describes a variety of great dog-friendly activities and places in Ventura County, CA.
Farther north on the California Coast, Bay Area Hiker has posted a … Read more
I bought this book partly because I yearn to travel in an RV, if only just once, but largely because there are plenty of dog owners out there who already do. I’m happy to report that it’s a practical and useful handbook that RVers will find very helpful — car- and tent-campers will also find it worth reading, but its main focus is on the logistics of traveling in an RV with one or more pets (the authors have two … Read more
