It was gorgeous in NYC today, and friends took Chloe and me to the Hudson River Park. We walked from Washington Square to Pier 51 by way of some great streets in the West Village, then turned south. Washington Square has finally emerged from construction, and the off-leash dog park is once more in business (dog parks, I should say, because there’s a separate one for small ‘n’ shy dogs). The Staten Island Ferry is a delightful way to get a harbor cruise view of lower Manhattan, Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty — for free! And dogs are allowed on board (click on “Rules of Conduct”), as long as they are in a carrier or muzzled.… Read the rest
Although we were staying with friends right next to the Washington Square dog park, the square in February 2009 was a sea of construction and we were happy to find a second dog park so close by. The Union Square off-leash dog run is on the west side of the square, and although it’s modest in size it’s certainly big enough for a small dog.… Read the rest
