Chloe and I took planes, trains, and automobiles together on our recent trip around New England — and when I say trains, I mean Metro-North commuter trains, since Amtrak doesn’t allow pet dogs on board. After driving around Massachusetts and New Hampshire and New York and Connecticut for a couple of weeks, I planned to meet my husband in Brooklyn, and since I will not drive anywhere near Manhattan, I opted to drop off the rental car in New Haven and catch a Metro-North train to the city.… Read the rest

The epic driving trip I’m currently taking was planned around the New York State High School Rowing Championships, held outside Saratoga Springs last weekend. My niece and her teammates were rowing in a Junior 4+ boat, and a passel of relatives showed up to cheer them on in the drizzle and, then, rain.… Read the rest
I have such a backlog of dog travel links for you (two weeks’ worth, plus a little!) that the only thing to do is tell you about them in the order they reached me — starting with the wonderful Maggie in Venice, mentioned in previous Chloe’s Clicks.… Read the rest
This week’s collection of dog travel links begins with a post from petswelcome.com describing favorite dog-friendly restaurants in Charlotte (North Carolina), San Francisco, New York City, and Austin (Texas).
Thinking of winter getaways? Fido’s City Guide has suggestions for a cozy visit to the Oregon coast, staying at Canon Beach and shopping in Seaside, and A Brooklyn Dog’s Life visited the dog-friendly Emerson Resort & Spa in the Hudson Valley, about three hours from NYC.… Read the rest
Hey, I’m not late! It’s still the weekend here in Seattle…. It’s been a very miscellaneous week in dog travel links, so I’ll just dive in — starting, in fact, here in Seattle. The wonderful ohmidog! team of John and Ace visited Seattle and Portland recently, and gave “the hipster seal of approval” to the dog-friendly Ace Hotels (the other two are in New York and Palm Springs).… Read the rest
I only have a handful (heck, less than a handful) of dog travel links for you this week — here we go, and, for a few more moments, Happy Halloween!
Matching my cheerful mood here on a beautiful, perfect fall day in Paris, all of the dog travel links I have for you this week are fun and inspiring. Consider the following fall getaways for you and your pup:
- A stroll through Atlanta’s Winn Park, brought to you by Diane and Cosmo of To Dog with Love;
- A dog-friendly hike in Oregon’s McKenzie River Valley (trail blazed by Pippin the Golden Retriever, and his human Kyla Merwin Cheney, posting on Travel Oregon Blog);
- Apple-picking (Miss Muddy Paws of The Wet Nose has found that most orchards are dog-friendly, and had fun last year taking her companion Milly apple picking in Northern Virginia);
- A visit to an outstandingly dog-friendly city — Park City, Utah (report filed by our Take Paws friends, Rod & Amy & Ty & Buster Burkert); and
- A romp on the beach — check out petswelome.com
This week’s Chloe’s Clicks starts with a time-sensitive link: The second-ever Surf City Surf Dog competition is scheduled for next weekend at California’s Huntington Beach. Even if you don’t plan to attend, check out the photo from last year’s competition!
Speaking of Orange County, the O.C.… Read the rest
I can’t think of a good way to organize this week’s batch of links, so I’ll plunge in willy-nilly. Let’s start in Monterey, CA, purely because I got married there (at the Aquarium, which is not pet-friendly). Petswelcome.com posted an overview of things to do and places to eat in Monterey, including a dog-friendly whale watch cruise.… Read the rest
