Reader’s report: Sleepypod Air (and Olive!) on a United 737-900 plane

This started out as a post on Dog Jaunt’s Facebook page, but reader Marie kindly agreed that I could repost it here on the blog, where it wouldn’t scroll away. Olive is a cross between a Sealyham Terrier and a Connemara Jack Russell Terrier (officially, a “Heritage Connemara Jack Russell,” part of a project to ensure the survival of the Irish Jack Russell). Marie bought the Sleepypod Air (here’s my review of it) in the dark chocolate color — very pretty,  … Read more

Thai Airways no longer takes in-cabin pets

I learned about this policy change from reader Naomi, and sure enough, a Thai Airways customer service rep just confirmed that the airline stopped taking in-cabin pets “over a month ago.” This is such bad news, not just because Thai Air is a pleasant airline to fly on, but also because its maximums for in-cabin pet weight and carrier size were unusually generous. Other airlines going to Asia allow in-cabin pets (including, for example, Korean Air and Asiana), but their  … Read more

Packing your dog’s gear for travel: An update, and a collaboration

I’ve written several posts about the dog gear we bring with us on trips, and how we pack it for car and airplane travel, but when Gigi Griffis (who writes The Ramble, and whose posts about her current trip across Europe with Luna, her Schnauzer-Yorkie mix, have frequently been featured in past Chloe’s Clicks) asked if I’d like to contribute to a collection of posts about packing for dog travel, I happily agreed. Things change over time, after all — new  … Read more

How to fly with an in-cabin dog: Fido Friendly blog post (4/30/10)

I wrote this post for the wonderful Fido Friendly blog, back in April 2010. I’ve linked to it from a Dog Jaunt post on the same topic, but the link is now fatally broken, and I can’t find the original Fido Friendly post on line. I’m posting it again here, because it’s still good stuff.

Travelers with dogs small enough to fit under an airplane seat don’t have to wave good-bye as their pet’s crate is rolled away, or worry about  … Read more

Winner of the Sleepypod Air pet carrier giveaway

Thanks so much to everyone who entered Dog Jaunt’s and Will My Dog Hate Me‘s giveaway for a Sleepypod Air pet carrier, and thank you to Sleepypod for sponsoring it!

We asked entrants to send us pictures of their dog’s “favorite toy or blankie — the one that you’d tuck into your dog’s carrier as you set off on a trip, because you know he loves it best,” and we told them that pictures including both toy and dog would get  … Read more

Sleepypod Air giveaway: Show us your dog’s favorite toy!

Last Thursday I reviewed the Sleepypod Air pet carrier, and today I have the pleasure of offering an Air carrier to a Dog Jaunt reader! Many thanks to Sleepypod for making this giveaway possible.

In my review, I called the Air carrier “outstanding” and “revolutionary” (I had some complaints too, but they were pretty minor). The carrier breaks new ground by giving you the option of shortening it from its normal length to either 19 inches or (with  … Read more

Product review: Sleepypod Air pet carrier

This is an unpaid and unsolicited review of Sleepypod’s new Air pet carrier. Sleepypod sent me a carrier, at my request, to try out and review. The company has also generously given me a second, unused Air carrier to give away to one lucky reader. The giveaway will start on Monday, March 29th, and will be co-hosted by Dog Jaunt and by Edie Jarolim’s blog Will My Dog Hate Me. Check back on Monday to learn how to enter!
