This is a two-part update, and I owe both parts to reader Giuliana, who wrote first to tell me that JetBlue now allows you to reserve an in-cabin spot for your pet online. As of at least June 16, the language on JetBlue’s JetPaws page stated that “Pets can be booked online or you can call 1-800-JETBLUE (538-2583).”… Read the rest
We returned to Seattle on a JetBlue Airbus 320, so once again I crawled around under my row of seats with a tape measure, and here are the results. This post is part of an ongoing series recording under-seat measurements of the various planes we fly on.… Read the rest
I started this series in December 2009, when I wrote a post about the space available under seats in Southwest’s 737 (-700 series) planes. Southwest had published its under-seat dimensions, but I felt that more info would be helpful.… Read the rest
It costs an arm and a leg to bring your dog with you in an airplane cabin, but JetBlue sweetens the pill by adding 300 points to your TrueBlue frequent flyer account for each flight you take accompanied by your pet.… Read the rest
Reader Karen and I conferred last year about a trip she was planning to take from Boston to Long Beach, via Jet Blue. Ella, her young Lhasa Apso (Ella weighs 13 lbs.), had never flown before, and Karen was understandably nervous.… Read the rest
According to the airport’s website, BWI’s pet relief area “can be found at the end of Concourse E near the International Terminal, adjacent to the light rail station.” Happily, the light rail station is easy to find, because there is literally no signage for the pet relief area until you reach the exit door.… Read the rest
This is an unpaid and unsolicited review of Sleepypod’s new Air pet carrier. Sleepypod sent me a carrier, at my request, to try out and review. The company has also generously given me a second, unused Air carrier to give away to one lucky reader.… Read the rest

Southwest had published its under-seat dimensions (the only airline I know of to do so), but I felt that more info would be helpful when you’re trying to figure out which seat has the most space for your in-cabin pet.… Read the rest
Not too long ago, I described, with breathless excitement, the new T5 Rooftop (or “Wooftop,” per JetBlue’s cheerful goofiness) pet relief area at JFK. The excitement was partly because it’s such a lovely location, and partly because it joins a still short list of pet relief areas located on the “air” side of the security line (most pet relief areas are, inconveniently for travelers continuing to another destination, on the “land” side of security).… Read the rest
I am, as you know by now, a woman obsessed with airport pet relief areas. Every U.S. airport has one, by law, and most of them are located outside the airport, on the “land” side of security. That means that travelers with working service dogs and travelers with pets have to exit the airport with their companions to locate and use the pet relief area — all well and good if that airport is your final stop, but a nail-biting challenge if you’re merely pausing between flights.… Read the rest
