Giveaway: Kobi Pet Carrier ($95 value)

Last Wednesday, I posted a review of the Kobi Pet Carrier, which I loved because it’s beautifully made and because a gusset concealed in one end can unzip, adding a full 3 inches of length to your pet’s carrier whenever you choose. In the world of in-cabin carriers for small pets, that’s solid gold.

Kobi sent me their regular-sized carrier, which measures 18″L x 13″W x 10″ H before the gusset is deployed. It’s all black, which I prefer because it minimizes the perceived size of a carrier. Because the price of the carrier is $95, I’m obliged by my own rules to give it away. My thanks to Kobi for giving me the chance to have a really good look at their marvelous carrier, and to give it away to one of you! If your pet is 10″ tall or less at the shoulders, I am confident that you’ll be thrilled about owning this carrier.

How To Enter

One lucky reader can win. If you would like a chance to win, leave a comment telling me what carrier(s) you currently own, and what size your pet is (I’m looking for her height from the floor to the top of her shoulders, and her length from the back of her neck to the base — not the tip — of her tail) before 11:59 PM PST on Monday, March 26, 2012. Please fill in the e-mail field of the comment form (your e-mail address isn’t shared with anyone, and I will not send you e-mail unless you win).

Announcing the winner

I will choose a winner randomly and announce the results here, on Dog Jaunt’s Facebook page, and in Dog Jaunt’s Twitter feed on Wednesday, March 28, 2012.

I do not own a carry-on carrier- yet! That need is what has me reading the DogJaunt regularly. I own more than half a dozen other crates but none airline-approved for carry on. My Papillon measures 10” at the shoulders and 10” neck to tail. He is a great traveler, hitting the road with me most weekends to compete in Rally and Obedience.

  • Thanks, Morgan! I should have said that it’s no barrier if you don’t already have an in-cabin carrier — part of the point, after all, is to encourage people who have only driven to try out a flight!

I already own two Sleepypod Air carriers for our two doggies, per your gracious suggestion last summer. I would love to try out this different design. Your blog is awesome!

I don’t have a carrier yet, but my endless search for the perfect carrier for my pup has lead me to your fabulous blog! My little terrier, who was rescued from a grocery store parking lot about six months ago, is 10 inches tall and 10 inches from neck to tail. She is from the island of St Kitts where I currently reside and attend veterinary school. She will be coming home with me to the States in August so I am in search of a great carrier for her to travel in.

I currently own the Bergan Signature Series Comfort Carrier in large. My chihuahua Lola is 8 inches tall and 10 inches long, she is a deer chihuahua with long legs. She weights about 6 lbs. The carrier is too big for her and I got it big thinking she would need the room. On our last plane trip she just stayed on one end of the carrier and was very awkward toting her since the carrier was lop sided. I am in desperate need of the right sized carrier for a more comfortable ride for Lola and I. Btw thanks to your wonderful website our first plane ride was a success and I was no longer nervous after I read what to expect.

Hello Dog Jaunt…. Rudy and I have been around the world with the Original Deluxe Sherpa – it is about 10 years old and has a ton of “wear”. The features I like the best are the ventilation and the strap on the back that attaches to the handle of your luggage. We are in need of an upgrade and I am interested in a new bag so I hope I win. Although Rudy is a service dog and is not required in a bag, we still travel with one for safety reasons and for a handy “chill-out” zone. Rudy is an american hairless terrier. He stands at the shoulder 9.5 and is 10 inches long.

    Your Faithful friends,
    Julia & Rudy.

My current carrier is the timbuk2 messenger bag. Which isn’t actually airline acceptable. But it is acceptable to Tip on hot days, though his head and big ears stick out one side and huge fluffy tail sticks out the other. Height at the shoulder is about 10 inches. Length is about 12 inches. And I got a small dog over 6 years ago because they could fly with me in the cabin, but have not yet done that. I get cold feet every time, but read your blog to try to get my courage up.

I’d love to win this carrier. Like all dog owners who like to bring their dogs out with them, I’m always looking for “that perfect bag.” I’m in NYC so a good quality, versatile carrier is an absolute MUST on subways, in cabs, at work, etc.

I currently own a Bergen soft-sided Comfort Carrier (for when my pup was still growing). He’s about 11″ at the shoulder and 12″ from neck to base of tail.

First of all I want to say I love your blog! I’ve been following your blog for over a year and have found many useful tips traveling with a small dog. My Yorkie is 5.5lb 9″ tall and 11″ long. Even though with her size it’s not hard to find a carrier that fits her, but I often travel long distance overseas, therefore I always look for a carrier bag that’s at least 10-12″ tall so she can still stand up comfortably and stretch but yet able to fit under the seat.

I own the Original Deluxe Sherpa bag small, but found it too short (8.5″ height) for long distance traveling. I also have the Teafco Argo Aero-Pet Carrier small (18.5X8.5X10.5), I’ve never traveled with this carrier bc it still seems too small (also doesn’t seem like much ventilation) even though I love the look of it.
I’ve been using the Sturdibag Large per your recommendation in the past year. We’ve traveled overseas (13hr flight) with my yorkie and she’s able to stand up and stretch if she needs to. This is by far our favorite carrier!

Would love the Kobi carrier, seems like a very sturdy bag!

I own the Sherpa carrier in medium size, but the Kobi carrier seems like it would be much better for our travels. My pup is about 11” at the shoulders, and 12″ neck to tail — perfect for airline travel. 🙂

I dont own one! my shihtzu is 7.9 inches in height, 19.8 in. length

    Thanks for a super giveaway!

  • Kelly

We have two large SturdiBags. My poodle mix Jax is a smidge too tall for this (13″ tall, 12.5″ long), but this sounds like it would be great for my lhasa Roxy! She is 10.5″ tall and 15″ long.

I found you over on andasmalldog after reading her entire blog. I will most likely do the same here 🙂

I have a small dog, Zorro, who is a long haired chihuahua, who is very mild mannered and happy to be with me at all times since I adopted him. My family has always owned dogs growing up, but they were always large dogs- labs– and all of them we adopted from friends and family that made cross country moves and decided to leave the dog behind (something that hit me as odd because we roadtripped with our large dogs all the time.

Anywho, I have never had any pets since moving out of my parents home because I am something of a nomad and didn’t think it was right or possible. I have since changed my mind, or had it changed by both Zorro and seeing other pet traveling families. For travel we have road tripped with a car seat, carrying bag for mommy, and a collapsible crate, but I am looking for our first pet carrier for a test flight we will be taking in June to Walt Disney World. Want to find something ASAP to get him used to the idea.

Zorro is 9 inches tall and 13 inches long.

Fingers crossed and off to read more reviews!

My little dachshund, Frida, does not have a pet carrier. She is flying with me for the first time in July and would love to win this carrier. Frida is 9 inches tall and 14 inches long.

    Thank you.

My malti-poo, Buddy, currently travels in a blue Sherpa Sport Duffel in size Medium. He likes it quite a bit, especially the fuzzy “sherpa” liner pad, but I actually wanted a Kobi. (Couldn’t afford it at the time, so I got the Sherpa on Ebay.) Buddy is 10.5″ at the shoulders and 11.5″ from neck to base of tail. (And he weighs 7 lbs. He’s lanky.) 🙂

I purchased two large black sturdibags and will be taking my three toy poodles with me to my sons wedding in Florida ( Southwest Airlines) Sept 1.

I purchased these on your recommendation and will start to get them used to the bags about a month before. This will be my first experience traveling with my babies on a plane.

My male is about 91/2 inches and just under 6 pounds.
My female is about 8 1/2 inches and just over 5 pounds.
My baby girl ( 6 months old) is about 6 1/2 inches and 4 pounds.

  • Catherine Phan

I don’t have a carrier, am looking for one. My Dog is close to 10 inches tall and 15 inches long.
    Thanks
    Catherine

  • Debra Lee

Mine is 8″ tall and 10″ long. I don’t currently have a carrier. Thanks for the chance to win one!

  • Bonnie Coffin

Hello…. My Bella is a yorkie that weighs 6 pounds…..stands 9 in tall and about 12 in long. We have the medium sherpa as i wanted her to have lots of room to move around. I travelled for 15 years with the large Sherpa for my King Charles Cavalier and he weighed 22 pounds at his largest, but he loved his bag. He would curl up and sleep without a peep. Bella is only 1.5 years old and still hasn’t earned her flying wings yet….she is getting better though. I would love to own this bag….thank you for letting us all have a chance to win it. Love your Blog

  • Kelly Ann T.

I don’t own a carrier and my sweet mixed breed is 12 inches long and 10 inches tall. All black and everyone thinks he is a lab puppy but he is 5 years old.

  • Jackie

Annie owns a Sturdibag. Annie is a mini poodle that measures 10″ in height and 16″ in length. I would love to try this carrier. Thanks.
