Reader’s report: Zurich to JFK, on SWISS, with an in-cabin dog

My heartfelt thanks to reader Anja, who gathered in one relatively short e-mail a wealth of useful information about her recent SWISS (formerly Swiss Air) flight from Zurich to New York’s JFK airport with Dr. Pepper, her Poodle — including real-life info about traveling via SWISS, under seat space on a SWISS Airbus A330-300, and the location and condition of JFK’s outdoor pet relief area at Terminal 4.Read the rest

Which seat works best with an in-cabin dog? [United 737-800/900]

Traveling from Seattle to Tampa recently, Chloe and I occupied the same seat (8F) on two different Boeing 737-800/900 series planes. Which seat works best with an in-cabin dog? [United 767-300]

I’d never flown on a 767 before, and I still can’t decide, two days later, what I thought of the experience. What I do know is that getting a seat in at least Economy Plus is crucial for an international flight with a pet: I walked past the Economy seats on my trip to the bathroom, and the pitch was something terrible.… Read the rest

Reader’s report: Large SturdiBag vs. medium Original Deluxe Sherpa, and space available on Delta 757-300

This post is long overdue, I’ll just say that up front. Reader Melissa was inspired to send it to me by my post comparing Chloe’s large SturdiBag with our new cat Cora’s Delta Deluxe Sherpa bag. She and Josie, her Lhasa Apso, “travel frequently for agility trials, and last December (due to your glowing reviews) for our trip to the AKC Invitational, I upgraded Josie’s travel to the Sturdibag. … Read the rest
