Pet relief area at Tampa International Airport (TPA)
According to the TPA website, “animals preparing for travel may be taken outside at the baggage claim level (Level 1).” That’s not much in the way of directions, but it turns out that only a few more details are needed. The areas TPA regards as suitable for pet relief are two large swaths of grass, one at either end of the arrivals area. Exit baggage claim and turn either right or left, depending on which end you’re closer to. Bring your own poop bags. (It sounds sketchy, but I’d much rather take Chloe to these pleasant patches of lawn than some of the official pet relief areas I’ve seen!)

I like St. Louis and San Jose because the grassy areas are nice and easy pee spots. Also getting in and out TSA in both those places isn’t too bad. Some TSA’s are a bit challenging. Especially when there are only minutes between flights. What would be nice if they create areas that we don’t have to go outside TSA. Smokers have it. It’d be nice for dogs too.
Hi, Poppy! Thanks for your comment, and for your notes about St. Louis and San Jose. I agree that airside pet relief areas are ideal — I’ve encountered a couple of them (at Seattle and Dulles), and was thrilled to death by how convenient they were.
